Proactive Computer Defense Built for Residential Users

Traditional consumer antivirus programs rely on annoying pop-ups, pushy renewal up-sells, and outdated virus definitions that fail to stop modern tech support scams or zero-day threats. MyTown CyberShield brings enterprise-class security management directly to home computers across Mt. Pleasant.

Instead of waiting for a virus to lock your screen or a fake pop-up scam to trick you into calling a rogue call center, CyberShield works quietly in the background. We combine enterprise Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) with custom-coded system monitors that actively block malicious remote-access tools, unauthorized user creation, and unpatched software vulnerabilities before damage can occur.

What We Handle Under CyberShield Protection

To ensure total system stability, every machine protected under MyTown CyberShield relies on continuous background maintenance, threat mitigation, and automated software patching.
Enterprise ThreatDown EDR (Powered by Malwarebytes)
CyberShield deploys ThreatDown EDR, an enterprise-grade endpoint detection and response engine that replaces sluggish consumer antivirus. It analyzes system behavior in real time to neutralize ransomware, trojans, and fileless malware silently—without spamming your screen with annoying pop-ups.
Custom Tech Support Scam & Remote Agent Blocking
Tech support scams trick users into installing remote-access software (like AnyDesk or TeamViewer) to hijack banking details. CyberShield runs custom-programmed background monitors that actively detect and restrict unauthorized remote tools, renamed executable files, and suspicious user account creations.
Automated OS & Third-Party Software Patching
Unpatched web browsers, PDF readers, and operating system bugs are the primary entry points for web exploits. We manage and automate updates for Windows, web browsers, and core software applications silently in the background so your system is always hardened against vulnerabilities.
Backblaze Unlimited Cloud Backup Integration
Protect your family photos, tax records, and important personal files against drive failure or local disasters. For an extra $10/month, we integrate Backblaze Unlimited Cloud Backup paired with custom monitors that alert our shop if a backup ever fails. If you ever decide to cancel CyberShield, your backup account easily migrates to an unmanaged personal account so you never lose a single file.
Exclusive Subscriber Discounts: 30% Off Bench Labor
CyberShield members receive 30% off all in-shop labor services. Additionally, if you need quick remote help, subscribers get access to remote support billed in flexible 15-minute increments at $17.50 (discounted from our standard $100/hr rate).

Smart Onboarding: Start Clean, Stay Protected

Because enrolling an already-infected computer into security monitoring locks in existing threats, we strongly recommend onboarding new machines through our Premium Repair Software & Virus Cleanup.

  • Standard Standalone Cleanup: $149

  • CyberShield Onboarding Bundle: $99 (a $50 savings) + $24 for your first month of CyberShield.

  • Out-the-Door Total: $123 to get a fully disinfected, speed-optimized computer backed by 24/7 security management from day one!

MyTown CyberShield Security FAQ

1Will CyberShield slow down my computer?
Not at all. CyberShield relies on a lightweight agent designed specifically to avoid heavy system resource usage. Unlike clunky consumer security suites that scan during active computer use, our agent operates quietly in the background without causing lag or screen freezes.
2Do I need an existing subscription to Malwarebytes or another antivirus?
No. CyberShield includes ThreatDown EDR directly within the plan. You can cancel any existing consumer antivirus subscriptions (such as Norton, McAfee, or standalone Malwarebytes), saving you money while upgrading to enterprise-level defense.
3How does the 30% shop labor discount work?
As long as your CyberShield subscription is active, any labor charges, deep component cleanings, or bench repairs performed at our Downtown Mt. Pleasant shop are automatically discounted by 30% (excludes parts costs and mobile device repairs). Remote troubleshooting sessions are also billed at a reduced rate of $17.50 per 15-minute block.
4Will I receive a reminder before my annual CyberShield plan renews?
Yes. We believe in complete transparency with zero billing surprises. For customers on annual subscriptions, our automated billing system emails a renewal notice 14 days prior to your billing anniversary detailing your upcoming subscription charge.

If your stored payment method ever expires or fails to process, you will receive an instant notification with a secure link to update your card details online without any interruption to your computer's security monitoring.
5What is the CyberShield cancellation policy?
CyberShield operates on a flexible month-to-month or year-to-year basis with no long-term contracts. To cancel your subscription, simply notify our shop at least 5 business days prior to your next billing date. (Please note that recurring payments already processed for the month or year are non-refundable).
6What happens if I cancel just the Backblaze Cloud Backup add-on?
If you remove the Backblaze add-on while keeping CyberShield, we simply remove the daily backup monitoring script from your agent. Your computer remains fully protected by ThreatDown EDR, patch management, and scam blocking. For your backup data, you can choose to transfer the Backblaze vault directly into your own unmanaged personal account by setting up billing with Backblaze. If you choose not to keep the vault, Backblaze will permanently delete your backed-up data according to their standard retention policy.
7What happens if I cancel my entire CyberShield subscription?
Canceling CyberShield removes all background monitoring agents, patch management routines, and ThreatDown EDR from your computer. Once the agent is uninstalled, your PC automatically reverts to standard built-in Windows Security (Windows Defender), allowing you to install any consumer antivirus you prefer. If you also had the Backblaze backup add-on, you can migrate your backup vault to a direct, unmanaged Backblaze account so you don't lose your data, or allow it to expire through Backblaze's standard deletion schedule.
